Jan Peyton Art

About Jan
Introduced to painting at the age of 10 by her grandmother, Jan began with oils, and then moved to acrylics. Since then, drawing and painting have always been a part of her life. Prior to moving to Alaska, Jan experimented with watercolors, and for over 40 years now, she is still in love with this medium.
Teaching afforded Jan time in the summers to paint, while raising two daughters and gardening. Spending summers in Halibut Cove inspired plein air painting -each direction a new exciting view -tides and light reflecting off still waters. Mentored by Alaskan artist and teacher, Alex Combs, Jan ventured into gallery exhibition in 1995. She has been featured in juried art shows since 1990, sells in various galleries, and teaches workshops in watercolor painting.
Retired from teaching Adult Education and Russian Language at Kachemak Bay Campus UAA, painting and gardening are her main occupations. Jan is currently board President of Kachemak Bay Watercolor Society.
Jan’s work is available in Homer at Fireweed Gallery, on the spit at Diamond Ridge Art and Brown Bear Gallery, and by emailing her directly.
